Course Details:

This one-day Health and safety awareness (HSA) course is designed to aid the understanding of potential hazards the construction worker may face on site. It provides a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

It identifies the delegate’s responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, outlines the employer’s duties and explains what should be done if the worker thinks that anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry site card. It is also an alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment for the CSCS Labourer Card.

At RG Wilbrey (Consultants) Limited, we have an experienced training and co-ordination team. Our co-ordinators will welcome you to our training centre and look after you for the entirety of the course, ensuring that you have refreshments, snacks and lunches each day.

Our trainers regularly go on site with our team of advisors to get necessary muddy boots experience and regularly attend training and seminars to maintain their CPD.

We pride ourselves on making the learner as comfortable as possible, offering a warm and friendly experience.

Our training centre has three training rooms, the Ashland suite is our main training room with a large projector screens & individual desks. Our Hopstone suite is a comfortable break out room, used as a refreshment and lunch area, there is a flat screen monitor that can be used to project presentations as well as having access to standard TV channels. The third room is a board room lay out with large comfortable chairs that holds a maximum of 8 operatives for smaller and more intimate groups of learners. All of our training rooms have free WIFI access.

Learner laptops are available if required at no extra cost.

All of your course materials and books will be given to you on day one and additional support is available. Our training team contact details will be given to you prior to your attendance for you to ask questions and get additional guidance.

Pre-requisites:

There are no formal entry requirements, however, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of a site manager. Previous health and safety knowledge is recommended. Those without previous health and safety management experience are recommended to sit the two-day SSSTS course. Delegates must be competent in written and spoken English necessary for operating efficiently at site management level.

Course Content:

Delegates taking the SSSTS course should be able to achieve all the learning outcomes listed below by the end of the course:

  • Module 1 – Legal and management
  • Module 2 – Health and welfare
  • Module 3 – General safety
  • Module 4 – High risk activities
  • Module 5 – Environmental awareness

Assessment:

Assessment will be by an end of course examination. The delegate must pass the exam in order to achieve certification for this course.

Certification:

Learners will receive an accredited CITB certificate on successful completion of the course.
